Hello! It’s Sabrina, the manni here. I’ve been very busy lately doing my modeling for lucitebox.com. We just opened a tiny lingerie department (the section itself is small–not all of the lingerie is tiny –although, come to think of it, it would be rather funny to see some doll-sized men’s unnerwears about now, especially a pair of tighty whiteys.)

Anywho, I’ve also been doing my bit to help Holly show off more vintage dresses and a selection of vintage suits that are coming soon on the site. Please visit us soon, ‘k?

Today, I present “round two” of our series “CLECKTIONS! What do you collect?” It’s a fun and simple concept. Each month we show you someone else’s collection of stuff. We’re looking for other collectors to showcase their items on Hollygab, so please, contact us. It’s easy to participate. Snap a few shots and send us an email. We’re most interested in vintage clothing and other vintage items, but who knows? Maybe your collection of A.B.C. gum will be just thing that we’ll want to run on CLECKTIONS! (Uh. Yeah. Especially if your Already Been Chewed gum is in the shape of famous people!)

We’re pleased to share a collection put together by one of our readers, Tiddleywink.

Tiddleywink sells cute retro-inspired jewelry on etsy. I’ve decided to show off one of her cute Tagtoo™ dog tags in the photo above–$2 from the sale of these tags is donated to Colorado Pit Bull Rescue so go ahead and click on that photo and buy one! Oh, and don’t forget to read Wink’s blog, shoesandpie.

Without further ado (yes, I use the word “ado!” I’m a mannequin, after all), here is Tiddleywink’s collection!

SABRINA: How long have you been collecting the thing we’re showing on Clecktions! Tiddleywink: Hmm… 9 or 10 years, I think.

Sabrina: What do you collect? Tiddleywink: Vintage/antique electric tabletop fans.

Sabrina: What sparked your interest in collecting the thing you collect? Tiddleywink: I stumbled across my first fan at a random garage sale. It was 75¢, and I gave the seller $1. He tried to give me change! From that point on, they seemed to find me.

Sabrina: Show us the first piece you acquired for your collection? Tiddleywink: My first fan was the blue Coronado. [above] (Model HW23-3903B, manufactured for Gambles-Skogmo in Minneapolis. Gambles-Skogmo? Seriously?) In perfect working condition, and just a few scuffs on the paint.

Sabrina: Do you collect other things besides this? Tiddleywink: Shoes! Wait, they don’t count? What if I displayed them? I also seem to have a lot of handbags. I don’t try to collect those, either. ;) My theory on collections is that “Two is a coincidence, three is a collection.” That being said, I currently have nine antique glass apothecary/sauce bottles, seven (modern) snow globes, six vintage English-language dictionaries (unless you count multiple volumes separately, and then it’s eight), five Portuguese rooster statues, and a partridge in a pear tree. I have made a half-assed attempt to acquire Día de los Muertos stuff, but so far have only two sugar skulls, a figurine, and a flip-book. And a rubber mask, if you want to count that, but I don’t display it.

Sabrina: How do you display your collection? Tiddleywink: All of the fans are in (or on) a black-stained wood wall unit. There is a cubby for each of the six silvertone fans, and the black fan stands alone on top of my television. It’s not racial segregation! The color contrast just worked better that way. If (as?) I get more fans, I’ll have to come up with some new arrangement.

Sabrina: What do you consider the piece de résistance of your collection? Tiddleywink: I like the Coronado because it was my first, and did I mention that it cost me a mere DOLLAR? The Wizard is cool because it has a nifty racing stripe. The ArcticAire is neat because of its unusual octagonal shape. I have never researched the monetary value of any of my fans. Or even the dates of manufacture, for that matter. Their intrinsic value is a combination of aesthetics, the fun of the find, and the thoughtfulness of the people who gave me some of the fans as gifts. Shout out to Mandelion, who gave me three of them for my birthday one year! It’s much easier to build a collection when your friends do the work for you. :D

Thanks, Wink! We’re glad you sent us your photos. Your collection is very cool. (And cooling, I’m sure!) I’d love to have some fans, but you know, with my schtick (standing in a corner mute) I’m very unlikely to gain any admirers! Besides, I do have a “No autographs” policy, so please. No autographs.

Now come on, people! We know you must collect something. Keep in mind: your collection of dust bunnies will never be published here on Hollygabs, unless of course, they match your celebrity shaped collection of ABC gum!

See you tomorrow.
