Black Cherry If You Please

I’m working on this dress now and it will be ready for lucitebox.com tomorrow. I just had to tell you that the sight of it gives me deep and painful cravings for black cherry ice cream.
The dress is made of that changeable taffeta fabric that looks a little like shark skin. It’s iridescent and rich in color as it moves from black to deep burgundy in the light.

The jeweled neckline is superb. There are little tear drop shaped pearls that dangle. I think it would be smashing with a pair of earrings that echoed that shape. And, a chignon.
As a general rule, I don’t wear things that make noise so tafetta is out most of the time. I’d make an exception if this fit me.
Do you ever have food cravings related to clothing? I tend to also find that when people describe, say, their boots, corduroys or cashmere sweater as being “chocolate brown” I wish that the objects themselves were actually made from chocolate. I sometimes feel that way about chocolate labs and other dogs that people describe as chocolate brown. Usually not poodles, though. It’s the smooth and shiny coat that makes them seemingly more edible.
How about this one? A chocolate brown Pit Bull. Nom, nom, nom, nom.

Holy cow, that is one handsome dog there!
Just don’t eat him, okay?
What size IS that dress? It’s gorgeous! The dog’s okay.
I love the rustle and “crunch” of tafetta. I love dogs, but pit bulls scare me.
Lee–teeny tiny, nearly too small for the mannequin, but oddly, waist is about an inch too large for her (she’s a size 2/4.) It seems like a dress designed for someone without ribs. I really had to pry it over her shoulders (sans arms, that is!)
Karen–How are you supposed to sneak up on people in taffeta? Ha ha!
That dog (Eddie) is a lover, not a fighter. I walk him every day and I am pretty sure he’s going give me so much affection that I might pass out from all the loving. He’s heading to Agility Training this weekend which cracks me up because one of my many names for him is Mr. Galumpers due to his unwieldy gate and big feet. He’s kinda clumsy, but that’s puppydom for you. Historically, these dogs were considered the ideal family pet from around the 1930s and on…the bad wrap isn’t always their fault. Most often (and more often than not) it’s bad humans training them to do things they’re not supposed to do.
He IS really, really cute. I’m easily won over when it comes to animals.
An immensely adorable puppy and a too-stunning-for-words dress (in one of my absolute favourite hues), a post can’t get much better than that in my books!
Thank you very much for your recent comment, honey, I hope you’re having a splendid week!

alright i WAS drooling over the dress….then you spring that adorable doggie face on me. are you kidding? how do you live with that. I’d be snorgling him every chance I got.
Hi Inky–the dress is something else! And Eddie is a doll. I’m not sure you know that my other job is dog walker and Eddie is part of my pack. I see him most days and he’s always good for adding immense joy to my day. This photo was taken while he was at our house for a week long slumber party. Not sure I was ready to have a puppy here for a week–such work
By the way, I may have something you might like in the hopper. It’s a late 40s/early 50s day dress. I’ll be in touch when it hits my site. (It might be too big for you, but it’s adorable and might be something you’d want to alter to fit.)
