Cutest Vintage 50s Black and White Pixel Lace Print Cotton Dress -
Pixelated lace? Those heavy black and white covers from composition books? Op Art trompe l'oeil? You're not seeing things. The print on this dress seems to vibrate and communicate any of these possible themes.
It's a black and white cotton number from the '50s. The dress buttons all the way down the front with some cute-y cute-ina vintage buttons. The yoke and the deep pockets are edged in black and scalloped with little loops. The fin cuffs at the shoulder are a quintessentially '50s touch, each trimmed in a black vintage button.
In the daytime, you'll wear this with your sandals or ballet flats to the farmer's market or the park, at night, step into a vintage wedge heel and add some jewels and take this dress on a date. Oh, yeah...that's right... we don't need to tell you how to work it.
You probably already own lots of vintage cotton day dresses. And why wouldn't you? They're just perfect for Spring and Summer!
Very good, but there are flaws--the center button (under the belt) is cracked in half. Since that sits under the belt, you should be able to put another plain black button there, or move the lowest one up from the hem. There are spots on this dress on the lower part of the skirt, These are shown at right in the last 3 photos. The first photo shows faint spot just about the bottom button. It's a 1 1/2" smudge. Hard to detect. The other two are located near the hem and shown in the last 2 photos. There's a 2" smudge that's 6" from the hem located 14" from the button placket. There's a 1" smudge in the back of the skirt that's 3" from the hem. Original belt is self-fabric. It is yellowed, so a black one is shown with dress and included along with the original belt.
Black and whiteFabric:
Freshly laundered, cotton is still quite crisp. Blacks are not faded--still deep black.
