Red Plaid Vintage R & K Originals 50s Shift Dress & Jacket -
What's feels more like Summer than shagbark? Wait. What's shagbark? It's a textile that has an occasional warp yarn under slack tension. During weaving, the slack-tension yarns create a loop at intervals giving the fabric a unique surface appearance. See the close-up of this fabric? Those loops create that tiny raised texture. Neat.
We like this classy late '50s dress and jacket combo made of red, pink and white shagbark. We appreciate the affordable R & K Originals label made "for the girl who knows clothes." What we love most about this ensemble is that it's unfussy and still looks kind of dressy and proper-like. Even if it's hotter than Hades outside, you'll keep your cool in this.
The dress is a sleeveless number with some darting at the bust and a little half-belt on the back. There's a deep kick pleat. The jacket is a boxy affair that has pearly buttons to match the half-belt on the dress. It's got a slightly dropped waist and lightly padded shoulders.
Available in a hard to find larger size, this simple summer shagbark schmatte is sure to be a hit at your next warm weather function.
Very Good to Excellent. There's a repair to the kick pleat. There's a really minor yellowing at the label inside the jacket and some at the neckline. Extremely faint and never visible when worn.
