Fans of Mugler know that his designs are usually sculptural, form-fitting and edgy. What gives this classic 80s Mugler the edge is the surprising fabric choice. Mr. Mugler could have chosen black, but no. He chose a conservative glenplaid in browns and tans. It's that unexpected twist that made fashion's enfant terrible famous. We just love him for it.

This dress is über structured like a suit. The bodice closes with concealed snaps and is secured at the neck with a big metal belt buckle. That big buckle detail is repeated again at the fake sarong-style wrapped skirt. The dress is built beautifully. It features lots of really wonderful tailoring.
