Sharp Vintage 40s Black and Red Trim Dress and Bolero Jacket -
SOLD
There's some serious drama going on with this dress and bolero set from the late 1940's. It's a three tone affair that features a dress with a cream colored bodice and a chic black skirt. Black buttons provide contrast on the bodice. The bolero jacket is a dashing piece in and of itself. It's accentuated boldly with a band of red crepe that finishes in a sharp arrow. That flash of color adds just the right amount of 40s flair. In short, this ensemble is wickedly chic!
The dress buttons to the waist. It has light shoulder pads. At the skirt, a few pleats add some ease of motion while still maintaining a sleek look. This suit looks much more poised when it's fitted to a real body that's closer in size to the dress. Our mannequin wears about a size 2/4 and we guesstimate that this dress would best suit a size 10/12. Dress has a metal side zipper. No closures on the jacket. The wide belt is original, too.
We're delighted to share this sophisticated and chic dress in a hard to find size. Now, really...how could you go wrong with this beauty? Just add peep toe heels, a flick of red lipstick and you're set!
Condition:
Very good to good condition. There are three flaws. There's a pick in the crepe on the center of the skirt. There's also an abrasion that's smaller than a dime on the bodice. It's not a hole, but shows wear in that spot. The belt is not in perfect condition (that photo was lightened to show the wear.) You might want to dry clean it. No stains, but there's some surface dust on the shoulder and collar. This dress is very wearable and the flaws don't detract from it.
