Breath-taking, avant-garde and utterly original, here's a really great vintage 40s dress by Paula Brooks, a St. Louis manufacturer. We are smitten with the colorway--delicious soft pink, black and white vines create a sinuous, elongated paisley print that climbs around on slinky cool rayon. It's the best modern organic print we've come across in a long time.
The dramatic sleeves make a strong statement. We hope you can see how the armsyces actually form a cocoon- like, sculptural shape around the body. Tiny jet glass beads trim the ornamental slash pockets at the breast. There are tucks at the skirt that mimic pockets and add form to the skirt. The dress has a metal zipper from the waist seam. At the back of the bodice, self-fabric buttons close the dress. There are 40s shoulder pads for added effect.
You are falling in love with this dress, no? We did, that's for sure.
Condition:
Very Good. There is some faint dirt on one sleeve. See last photo at right. It is hard to notice. Top button on back of dress is a replacement, in black. Matching black buttons will be included in sale if you wish to replace all the self-fabric buttons.
