Sweet Vintage 50s Pink Linen Soutache And Rhinestone Trim Dress -
$115
It's probably obvious that we at the Lucitebox HQ like pink. It's a sensual color that, depending on the shade, can be shocking and vibrant or innocent and demure. This soft petal pink dress from the 1950s falls into the latter category. We can't help but read it as the ideal Doris Day style dress. It's winsome and carefree and clean.
The wrap style bodice is decorated with white curly-cues of piping, also known as soutache. That trim is accented further with white floral appliques and prong-set rhinestones. The collar is a little Peter Pan affair that's trimmed with those cupcake-y style trims. There are small shoulder pads in this dress.
The skirt is quite full and fluid and voluminous. The dress closes at the side with a metal zipper. A self-fabric belt completes this pulled-together day to evening look.
"Que sera, sera" is the general attitude of this vintage '50s dress and that's certainly a fine ethos by which to live. Doris Day was quite the animal rights activist, by the way. In honor of that, when you purchase this dress, we will donate a percentage of the sale to The Doris Day Animal League. That's what will be.
Condition:
VERY GOOD. The belt shows wear and a few gray spots and smudges. That's shown at right. There are three tiny pin prick spots on the skirt. They are shown in the last photo. There is also one very faint spot on the center of the lap of the skirt. It's so faint, it's nearly unremarkable and we barely noticed it under our very high watt photo lights. It's faintly yellowed and about 1 1/2" in diameter. No other flaws found.
Era: 1950s
Designer/Label: None. Label has been removed.

Fabric Notes: This feel like linen, but may be a blend of cotton and linen or some other fiber. It's a light to mid weight weave and has plenty of drape to it.
