Curve Hugging Toni Todd Vintage 50s Velvet Full Skirt Dress -
You'll look smashing at your next fancy event in this black velvet beauty. It's soft cotton--all plush and lush, and oh, so flattering. This is classic '50s fit 'n flare. It's got curved princess seams at the bust that hug the body. The skirt swings and sways with ease because it has at least ten wide gores. You could wear a crinoline under this, but we like it as much without one.
The standout details decorate the sleeves. There are "cuffs" of crystal pleated organdy adorned with black rhinestone dotted buttons. The sleeve itself it a little looser at the elbow area. So many times, a fitted three-quarter sleeve length can inhibit movement. Not the case here. These pert sleeves are cute and add a touch of innocence to this all black special occasion dress.
This cutie has an interesting back that dips down lower than the neckline. It zips on the side with a metal zipper. It's nicely weighted and perfect for cooler weather.
Toni Todd is one of our favorite moderately priced manufacturers of the era. This is a darling example that's ready to find a new happy home.
Good. There is some discoloring/graying on the organdy ruffles on sleeves. One dried split pea-sized hole in the organdy. Two rhinestones missing from one button.
Cotton velveteen trimmed in organdy.
