Heavily Beaded Vintage 60s Celadon Evening Gown -
From famous maker, Lillie Rubin comes this elaborately beaded special occasion dress made of slipper satin damask in a soft celadon green shade. The gown is fitted and enhances curves. The neckline has structural strap detailing that makes an already knock-out dress even more dramatic. There are zillions of seed beads that are clear with a blackish silvery center. The dress also has a smattering of iridescent paillettes or flat round sequins. They're almost aurora borealis in color. Here and there, there are some lampwork type glass floral beads. The beadwork on this dress is beyond exuberant.
The fabric itself is soft and shiny. It's a shade of green that is icy mint colored--a very muted celadon jue that is gorgeous. It's likely all silk woven with a damask floral pattern that is emphasized by the beadwork. It's is fully lined, too. The Back plunges--low and lovely--but likely still covers a bra strap.
Make an entrance at your next event in this breath-taking vintage gown. It's absolutely stunning.
Good to Very Good. This dress presents very well. It has some flaws. The zipper is a replacement that was done before we received it. It's nylon and hand-sewn into the dress. The bottom of the zipper needs to be resewn or re-tacked into the dress. There is some light staining in the lining. That's primarily at the center bust and hem and it's quite faint. It is not visible when the dress is worn. There are some loose threads and missing beads, but for all intents and purposes, the beading appears complete although there are missing beads. There's a small brown spot on the kick pleat--down low where no one would see it. This has been worn.
