Party Perfect Vintage 90s Victora Costa Dress -
When you're ready for the party, sometimes it's fun to deviate from basic black and go for navy. Did you know navy tends to photograph much better than black? It does. So much so, that this dress came out a richer, more sapphire-y color than it is. We'd describe this as navy and we love navy because it looks right on every skin tone.
This one's probably from the late '80s or early '90s and made by Victor Costa. There's a form fitting knit bodice with a dropped waist that culiminates in a full party skirt. The skirt is enhanced with a built-in tulle crinoline to add volume to the silhouette. The dress closes in back with a nylon zipper.
We can't help but see a little bit of early '50s Suzy Perette style in this dress. That influence wouldn't be such a surprise. That's where Costa began his fashion career as a brilliant copyist of higher end Parisian design.
