Sensational Striped Vintage 40s Blouse -
SOLD
Fans of '40s blouses might know that a good one like this isn't always easy to find. It's all business with a little twist of amazing found on the breast pocket. You see how that pocket is constructed? Brilliant. We don't know from Mayehoff (the label inside), but whoever sewed this thing together is a true craftsperson.
The colors are interesting and smart. The darkest, broad stripe is deep cocoa with a hit of mauve. For contrast, there are lighter colored stripes including tiny pinstripes in soft periwinkle blue. There's a button placket that covers the clear, flat plastic buttons. The waist is nipped and seamed for a slimming effect. The hem of the blouse is pinked. What's inside matters, too. On either side of the waist seam there are little adjustable hidden straps that aid in keeping the shirt close to the body. (Note the photo with the lingerie-like strap. Those straps can be tightened to enhance the streamlined fit.) Simple cuff sleeves add some extra punch.
And again... there's the pocket. It's a square affair of geometric excellence. Oh, geez, Louise. We've never seen anything quite as perfect.
Condition:
Very Good. Our last photo shows a small water stain that's located on the back of the blouse. It runs horizontally and is about 2 inches long. It's pretty hard to detect. The string loop that holds the top button is broken. Otherwise, this blouse is in great condition.
