Chic Cherry Red Vintage 60s Davidow Suit -
A chic Davidow suit like this is a must for any woman's wardrobe. It's understated, yet perfect for any occasion that calls for pulled-together, smart style. This 60s suit is gorgeous. It is red. Very red. There's just a touch of pink in it, but by and large, if you're not seeing red, our monitors are not in-sync.
It's made from a fabric that feels like linen and silk. It's somewhat of a mid-weight fabric, likely most appropriate for Fall or Spring. The fabric is quite textural --all nubby and slubbed.
What's key here is the detailing on the jacket. It's a boxy cut with sculptural seams at the waist. They curve and lend the jacket just the right amount of rich lady chic. The buttons with their inset metal diamond details, are wonderful, too.
The collar is a winsome notched Peter Pan type affair.
Did you know that vintage Davidow suits were often line for line copies of Chanel suits? We're pretty sure this one isn't, but it still characteristics of couturier clothes.
You won't find many suits in this price range at the store today. There are besom buttons holes (that seem to be hand-sewn.) Even the lining is sewn in by hand. This originally retailed at Neiman Marcus.
This suit is tremendous. It's classic and chic. Trust us. You will be noticed in this Davidow suit.
Near Excellent. Wear to hand-sewn button holes--some broken stitches on each. Metal button centers may have originally been black. Slight remnants of black on each one--now, silvertone.
Davidow/ Neiman Marcus
Likely silk linen blend.Fabric Notes:
Fabulous fabric--it's probably linen and silk. It's not lightweight, but also probably not intended for cold weather wear. It's very textural. In addition to the slubs, we detect a very small windowpane pattern effect that rendered in texture.
